SOPA and her twin PIPA
Though not identical, on January 24th Congress will be voting on yet another piece of legislation that can affect the Internet. SOPA (STOP Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (PROTECT IP Act) have received much attention last year due to the chilling effects they can have on the Internet. Consequently, on January 24th we will see just how PIPA fans out with the Senate. Bloggers and Tweeters are taking to the web to try and stop the passage of either bills and I am also a part of the movement. The former can affect blogs, technological advances, media sharing, etc - and the latter can effect what you see and hear on the Internet. Of course those are short descriptions so I urge you to go online and read more.
